Career Storyline

About Rob Feinstein

Some people come to career coaching knowing exactly what they want. Most don’t. They know their background is strong. They suspect they’re underselling themselves. But they’re not sure how to fix it — or even where to start.

That’s where most of our conversations begin.

What Rob brings to that conversation is unusual.

Twenty-five years as a tech executive — 8x VP, 2x GM, across ten companies. Hundreds of hiring decisions. An early career as a pioneer in hiring tech that gave him a front-row seat to what separates the candidates who get called from the ones who don’t.

Before all of that, he spent years as an award-winning journalist — learning to find the story inside complex, messy human experience and make it land with precision and economy.

That combination shapes every engagement. The executive instinct to cut through noise. The journalist’s ear for the detail that makes everything else make sense. And a genuine satisfaction in the moment a client finally sees — and can articulate — what makes them distinctly valuable

The work is more personal than people expect

Sessions are conversational. Collaborative. There’s no script, no checklist, no templated advice. The goal is to understand how you think about your own career — what you’ve built, what you value, what you want next — and then help you see it more clearly than you can on your own.

Clients describe the experience as surprisingly candid. One described Rob as having a “safe space personality” — and that’s intentional. The best career narratives come from real clarity, not polished talking points. And real clarity only happens when someone feels safe enough to say what they actually think.

A clear label. A sharp set of superpowers. A precise sense of what they want next. And the materials and verbal fluency to express all of it — in a resume, a LinkedIn profile, an interview, a networking conversation, a compensation negotiation.

Most go on to get the role they were after. Some stay to work on what comes next.
